Add an "Other" Option to Single Answer or Multiple Answer Questions
When creating a survey with Single Answer or Multiple Answer questions, it might be important to allow the
participants the flexibility to enter their own answer if it's not provided as an option.
To achieve this, you can include an Other option in the answer choices and add a follow-up Text question where the
participants can type in their answers. In the steps below we use a Single Answer question but the same flow can be
applied to Multiple Answer questions.
- Add the
Single Answerquestion along with the available answer options. For example, let's say the question should ask for the participant's favorite color: Red, Green, and Blue. - Add the
Otheras an option at the end of the list of answer options. - Add a
Textquestion right after theSingle Answerquestion. - Set a
Criteriafor theTextquestion based on theOtheranswer option from theSingle Answerquestion. In our example, as you can see, theCriteriashould be set toQ1 == 4. This configuration ensures that if a participant selectsOther, they will be prompted with aTextquestion where they can enter their answer.
- (Optional) You might want to change the
Typeof theText QuestiontoSingle Line, since colors are either one word or a phrase. - Save and publish the survey.
